The Commission to be responsible for providing protection to candidates and their electoral and polling agents during election.

This reform proposal has been articulated in the Electoral Reform Commission Report but has yet to be officially initiated.

EC will propose a joint security plan with Home Ministry and law enforcement agencies.

According to the Election commission office a coordination body comprising all relevant security forces, including the Police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the Armed Forces, the Navy, and any other designated agencies, will be formed. These forces will operate upon the request of the Returning Officer and Presiding Officer, and will take immediate action as required.

For the 13th National Parliamentary Election, members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force have been deployed nationwide under the “in aid to civil power” provision to support civil administration in maintaining law and order. A total of 970,948 security personnel—including defence forces, police, BGB, RAB, Ansar, VDP, Coast Guard, and auxiliary forces—are engaged in election duty. All deployed forces are operating under the authority of the respective Returning Officers, with coordination overseen by the Election Commission’s central coordination cell. Under Circular-9 issued for the election, the Election Commission has provided for the formation of Law-Enforcement Cells, along with Vigilance and Observation Teams and Election Monitoring Teams, in accordance with the Election Conduct Rules, with clearly defined functions and reporting obligations. In addition, the Bangladesh Air Force, BGB, has been authorised to deploy drones and provide live video feed to monitor the law and order situation during the election and referendum period. The drone-based surveillance is intended to support real-time assessment of ground conditions, overall situation monitoring, and timely decision-making in response to any undesirable or disorderly situation. Furthermore, the Election Commission has constituted a Law and Order and Misinformation Monitoring Cell by attaching officials from relevant ministries, forces, and departments to coordinate monitoring and response related to law and order and misinformation during the election period.

On Election Day, at least 393 criminal incidents related to the election were recorded across most districts. The death toll on Election Day stands at 9, of which one is alleged to be politically motivated, while the rest are attributed to natural causes. Although the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum were largely viewed as peaceful, violence erupted in different parts of the country after the results were announced, resulting in three additional deaths and over 300 injuries, according to Human Rights Support System.
