Bangladesh Labour Amendment Ordinance, 2025, specifies setting minimum wages for workers in all industries every three (3) years. Previously, the period was five years for selected sectors.

Under the Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act, 2026, Section 139(6) has been amended to require that wage rates fixed for workers in any industry be re-determined every three (3) years in accordance with government directives.
Observation

The proposed reform has been implemented in the Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act, 2026; however, past experience suggests that legal provisions on wage revision have not been consistently followed across all sectors. Effective implementation would depend on regular enforcement and adherence by the relevant authorities.As provided in the following amendment Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act, 2026:According to the Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act, 2026, in the amended sub-section (6) of section 139 of Act No. 42 of 2006, the rate of minimum wages fixed for workers employed in any industry shall be re-determined every three (3) years in accordance with the direction of the Government.
