Observation
The Bangladesh Labour Amendment Ordinance, 2025 did not include any specific provision to ensure female participation in workers' representation. If an upper house in the National Parliament is established by the next parliament, the elected members of parliament (and their political parties) may consider ensuring representation of organised workers in the upper house. This will help the workers' representatives to be more engaged in national and international fora related to worker rights.Political parties may like to clearly articulate their position regarding this reform proposal in their respective election manifestos.
