A provision for creating the "Employment Injury Scheme" has been introduced in the Bangladesh Labour Amendment Ordinance, 2025.

Under section 151A of the Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act, 2026, a legal basis has been provided for the establishment of a central compensation fund named the Employment Injury Scheme Fund, which will function as social security in cases of workplace accidents and death; however, no separate or clear government fund has been mentioned for maternity benefits.
Observation

As provided in the following amendment Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act, 2026:
151A. Employment Injury Scheme Fund.—(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in other provisions of this Act, the Government shall, by rules, establish an Employment Injury Scheme Fund in such workplaces as it considers appropriate, and such rules shall include the constitution and functions of the management board of the fund, determination of the types and extent of benefits payable, sources and methods of financing the fund, and other necessary matters for the effective administration and implementation of the fund.
(2) For this purpose, the Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, determine the industries or sectors to which this fund shall apply, and upon such determination, the provisions of this Act relating to the employer’s liability under section 150 in case of workplace accidents shall not apply to the employers of the concerned industries or sectors.
